My Joys are Simple Joys...

My joys are simple joys
share them with me
the joy of a happy lover
the joy of my canine companion sniffing and walking and owning his little world
the joy of a tree

My joys are simple joys
share them with me
the joy of the yellow bird feeding at my window
the joy of the chirp of the chickadee dee dee
the joy of sweet sunshine

My joys are simple joys
share them with me
the joy of a song sungfelt and heartfelt
the joy of a book or story that takes me away, that takes me home
the joy of a visually ecstatic scene

My joys are simple joys
share them with me
share them with me

Do No Harm...

The ‘golden rule’ is a good simple way to live but there is another phrase that is equally good to think about and live by.  Do no harm!  It might seem simple and simplistic but when you think about the fact that we humans do a lot of things seemingly without thinking it gets a bit more complicated.    Can you drive your car and do no harm?  Can you cut your lawn and do no harm?   How about our treatment of each other?  When do our relationships become harmful?   Are we aware when our relationships with our children, our lovers, our neighbors, other societies become harmful?  Do you know when you do no harm?

It really is that simple...

Can you believe that we actually choose to come here, this planet of darkness and bright and beautiful light.  Planet earth, planet of polarity, light and dark, good and evil, love and fear, pain and joy.   We not only choose to come here but we keep coming back.   These ideas alone are worth the thought of trying to make ours, and others, stays here as pleasant as possible.   And yet human history is wrought with war and sorrow punctuated by moments of joy and beauty.  We are not beings stranded on a prison rock floating in space.  Again, don't you think that alone is worth the idea of trying our best to make our stay as pleasant as possible.  We chose to come here and we have choices here and now.  And yes, it really is that simple.
