Have you felt a longing... ?

The Soul longs for growth.  It yearns to grow, to learn, and to find its way back to the perfection from whence it came.   If you feel a chronic dissatisfaction with your life.  If you feel there has to be more...
It is probably the promptings of your soul.  But, you ask, what do I do?  The answer quite simply is to listen to those promptings.
In a quiet moment speak to your soul.  Ask it to communicate to you what it wants and what it wants you to do about it.  And in whatever way you choose, prayer, meditation, spending time alone, possibly in nature, put out to the universe that you want assistance and to show you a next step, what to do.
You have done all of that, now start paying attention.    Start watching for synchronicities.   The veils between the worlds are thinning.  I think you will be surprised at what starts to happen.

Introducing Don Miguel Ruiz...

Periodically I want to introduce you to literature that has been important to me and has moved me along on my inner journey.   Today I want to introduce or reacquaint you with the work of Don Miguel Ruiz.    He has accumulated quite a list of work that includes THE FOUR AGREEMENTS  and THE FIFTH AGREEMENT.   These are very practical and relatively easy to read self help books.
From THE FIFTH AGREEMENT: “When we become aware that we are living in a dream that we artists are creating, we take a big step in our own evolution because now we can take responsibility for our creation.”

and from THE FOUR AGREEMENTS:  “Death is not the biggest fear we have;  our biggest fear is taking the risk to be alive--the risk to be alive and express what we really are.”

What If.......

Most everyone has their own ideas on what God is.   And I think I can be fairly accurate when I say that many people have not thought beyond the idea that God is an old human man who lives in the sky.  But....
What if...
God, Great Spirit, Allah, Infinite Creator, Creator, Mother Father God, is everything in existence and we are all, everything is all, part of God.
This is a concept that Metaphysics has worked with for some time but I can’t remember it being a concept of any organized religion.  In an earlier blog I wrote of how we have a tendency to make god in our image, the image of the male human, and then elevating him to somewhere above us where often “heaven” is reported to be.   The concept of God as all is often written “All That Is”.
Perhaps you know this concept, this idea of God.  Perhaps you don’t.   I’m asking you to think about it.  Question it.  Ponder on it.  It is quite a concept.   There are a lot of interesting implications.
What if God is All That Is?

What Can I Possibility Do?

With floods, and droughts, wars and earthquakes, what can I possibly do?  With all that is going on in the world today and in the lives of individuals, what can anyone do?
What one person does has an effect on everything even though we are usually not able to see that affect on others and the world.    The idea keeps coming to me over and over again that anything we do, positive or negative, moves out in waves touching all.  Like the wind touching the grass, moving waves of grain, I read it, I hear it, it is an idea that is reinforced over and over again that what we do affects every thing else.

So what can you possibly do?

Find your shadow and face it.
Question a belief.
Question everything.
Take responsibility for your life, one little part of it.
Love something you have never loved before.
Love yourself.   That is a big one.  Perhaps it is THE big one.

“Remember, the understanding and awareness you achieve here, based on accepting responsibility for your life, can ripple into many realities as a frequency  of self-empowerment to contribute to healing along the lines of time.”  PATH OF EMPOWERMENT by Barbara Marciniak

“Whenever one person heals one aspect of self, all humanity heals through the increase of vibration.  Such is the extent of our power.  At times the effects are immediate and measurable.  At other times they are indirect and imperceptible, though no less profound.  The world follows in our energetic wake.”    COURAGEOUS SOULS by Robert Schwartz

What can you do?  What can I do?
Ask questions, love, give yourself permission to be more than you ever thought you could be.
That is what you can do.

Meeting the shadow...

I have contributed to the co creation of quite an exceptional life.   And I say co create because I have not done it alone.   The exceptional people in my life have created with me an examined life well worth living.
Recently, however, I met my shadow.   Now there are somewhat differing ideas of what the “shadow self” actually is and how it is defined but this definition from Wikipedia sums it up quite nicely for me:  “In Jungian psychology, the shadow or "shadow aspect" is a part of the unconscious mind consisting of repressed weaknesses, shortcomings, and instincts.”
I like to think of myself as a quite well balanced individual but some very earthy type of problems brought up those things in me that I have faced before and apparently needed to face again.  They were car problems.     Those car problems brought up in me insecurities and fear about of not enough money, and not being good enough/capable enough to handle problems of this sort.  I hope that I have faced this shadow, looked it in the eye, and can soon say goodbye to it forever.  I hope by writing it about it I can gain insight that will shed enough light on it....  Shadows go away when you shed light on them...
and I hope that writing about it, a reader might be able to gain some insight, or some courage to face their own shadow.
Where there is light there is, at least on planet earth, always going to be shadow.  But all it takes for the shadow to go away is to expose it to light.   Information is light.   Recognize it, learn about it, talk about it, face it, journal/write about it.  Sometimes you may need the help of someone else or even a professional.  If you turn your back on it you won’t see it, but it won’t go away.  But recognizing our shadow, learning what it takes to disolve the darkness and eventually integrating it is what we aim for.   Meeting and understanding your shadow is necessary for personal growth
Meet your shadow.   I certainly did...  Say hello to your shadow... Get to understand it.  You will be glad you did.

The gate is opening....now is the time.....

From PATH OF EMPOWERMENT by Barbara Marciniak:  "Proceed to love who you are, all the while cultivating your creativity by believing in the unlimited possibilities of growth through your own personal transformation.  We suggest that you invest in your self, for on the web of existence, we are all one."

sparrowhawk speaks: How is your creation today?

How is your creation today?

Author and teacher Don Miguel Ruiz calls humans artists and their lives are their creation.  Many do not choose to see their life as something they create themselves but when you think about it, who else does the creating.  We create our lives by our choices and by our thoughts, words and deeds.  And by looking at life this way we can stop being a victim and take responsibility for who and what we are.   Sometimes that means we have to take a hard look at ourselves and what we have created.   But we can also take responsibility for creating a beautiful life.   and we can share our creation with everyone.
from THE FIFTH AGREEMENT, by Don Miguel and Don Jose Ruiz:  "There's no difference between you and any star in the sky, or you and any rock in the desert.  Everything in existence is part of the only living being in existence.  When you experience this truth, even for a moment, the whole structure of your belief system disappears, and you are in that wonderful dream of heaven."

Finding our Place...

This is following up somewhat on yesterdays theme of not settling for less, which included not settling for a lesser god.  I have literally spent my adult lifetime trying to figure out what religion, spirituality and consciousness is all about.  In order to follow the kind of path I have taken, to take up a search like this one has to make a decision to do so if they are not already inclined.   For what ever reason I am one that has always wanted to know more.  As I came across information that was new to me or correlated with something I already knew I would compare it to what was already there.  If it made sense or was something that I felt good about it would join and add to the information I already had.
In her book, INVISIBLE ACTS OF POWER, author Caroline Myss, writes about an intuitive reading she was giving that was both unusual and very powerful for her and the  recipient of the reading.  “This intuitive reading had a profound effect on me.” She writes.  “Along with the powerful image of the enormous spirit tree, I got the distinct sense that the universe was constructed in such a way that there is a place for each of us in it and that we are each meant to find that place as well as “become” that place.  And I saw that if we do not try to find that place or purpose, we suffer emotionally and spiritually and, ultimately, physically.”
What I have learned consistently through my lifetime search is simply:  There is so much more than meets the eye and everything I have encountered tells me that truth or even reaching toward that truth is so much more powerful and so much better, more awesome than anything we are being taught in our churches, our politics, our schools.
One of the ideas that I have retained from the Christian Bible is the phrase, “you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”.  One of the things I had to find out for myself is that most of that truth was somewhere outside of that book and that religion.

Summer Solstice 2011

Summer Solstice, The beginning of summer, the end of spring.  The time when the seeds of spring turn into the bounty of summer.   It is the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new one.  On this Summer Solstice, 2011, I want to urge you to look at yourself, look at your life, look at the creation you have made....  And then don’t settle for less, don’t settle for the ordinary.   It is said that humans were made in the image of God but I think we have that backwards.   Humans made god in their image.   Can the Creator really be a cantankerous old man in the sky?  When you look around at nature and you look up at nebulae and black holes, a multiverse of stars and planets and galaxies, can you really think that The Creator is a petty humanoid who is on your side or mine and not someone else?
Celebrate the beginning of this cycle and decide that you won’t settle.  Decide that you won’t settle for a lesser god, a lesser you, and a lesser world.

Taking responsibility for our creation...

How closely do you look at your own life?  It is so easy to get caught up in everyday things, that we sometimes fail to look at our lives at all.   And when we are so distracted we don’t take responsibility either for our everyday outer lives or our inner selves.   Noted author and teacher Don Miguel Ruiz with his son Don Jose Ruiz shed a little light on this subject in their book, THE FIFTH AGREEMENT.  “When we become aware that we are living in a dream that we artists are creating, we take a big step in our own evolution because now we can take responsibility for our creation.”
We do create the lives we live and as a single individual we contribute to the mass consciousness of the planet.  Wouldn’t it make sense to take responsibility for our lives?  Especially if we can create the life we want?

"I'd rather see you up"

In my previous post I spoke of myself as an “angel flying too close to the ground”.  This phrase is from a song by Willie Nelson about an angel that breaks her wings flying too close to the ground.   That is my literal interpretation but I like the image of it.   Many of us are like that, we can’t see the bigger picture because we are too close to it.  I would urge you to be like the eagle and get a higher perspective.
There is a lot going on in the world and in our lives.   And when we only look at it from the perspective of the ego, the little i, we don’t always see the big picture.   We have a tendency to take things too personally.   We are all ONE whether we believe this or understand it.   Hover a little higher like the falcon, like the eagle, and look at the world and your own little world from a higher perspective.   See that higher perspective, feel it.
I’ll leave you for today with these words also from the same song  (Thank you Willie):  “Fly on, fly on past the speed of sound
I'd rather see you up
Than see you down”

Sparrowhawk speaks

The American Kestrel, the sparrowhawk, is the smallest of the falcons.  Often its way of hunting is to hover above the surface of the planet and watch for its prey.    It gets a good look at its world from there.
That is what these writings are all about.   Observations and perspectives from my view of the world, "an angel flying too close to the ground."  The sparrowhawk, the hawk, and the eagle can help us raise our sight that we might view things from a higher perspective.
