The Sacred Future...

I wish to present a webpage that is well worth a read.  It is a part of Starhawk's web page and it is an updated section from her novel, THE FIFTH SACRED THING.  In the novel she outlines a vision  of the city of San Francisco that could very well be a blueprint for a sustainable future for the human race.  This small example about energy:
"The city has abundant sources of renewable energy. The tides and currents that flow under the Golden Gate turn huge generators that provide a major source of electrical power. It is supplemented by solar panels on roofs, wind generators, including many that hang from colorful balloons suspended above the rooftops, and others that crown the supports of the bridges that span the bay."
The book is an excellent read.  The abbreviated webpage is well worth a look as a blueprint for the future.  THE FIFTH SACRED THING

"To Honor the Sacred..."

"All people, all living things, are part of the earth life, and so are sacred. No one of us stands higher or lower than any other. Only justice can assure balance: only ecological balance can sustain freedom. Only in freedom can that fifth sacred thing we call spirit flourish in its full diversity.
To honor the sacred is to create conditions in which nourishment, sustenance, habitat, knowledge, freedom, and beauty can thrive. To honor the sacred is to make love possible."
